I am a regular expresso coffee drinker of some duration, having been brought up in an Italian household. Lavazza makes several types of coffee, and I've tried them in the past. Further, I've lived in Rome and have spent 13 of the last 14 Septembers in Italy. In short, I have some experience in the matter.It has been my custom to bring home various expresso coffees from Italy upon our return. The results of my purchase of the 8 oz cans confirms my earlier suspicion that it is of modest and moderate quality. The brewed coffee has a cloudy and turbid appearance, with fair taste quality.In my view, and that of most Italians, if one can only buy Lavazza Qualita Oro, then do so, but, unquestionably, Illy is the brand to buy.vatvince'37
I'm no connoisseur of coffee, but this is the only espresso that my guy will drink apart from the packs he brings back from his favorite cafe in Rome. I will say that this doesn't have that burnt taste that so many dark roasts have.
The Lavazza black is better and cheaper than the gold. It is also smoother and less acidic. I've tried both and the black is definitely better. You won't be disappointed with the black.
Comes in a pack of 4 cans. This espresso is better than any I've been able to find in stores. Imported from Italy, it is strong but not bitter. My mother used to have to bring home a suitcase of this stuff when she came back from Italy. Now my entire family buys this from Amazon.
Smooth taste not bitter like some. This is true Italian coffee. Spent some time in Italy and this is what we had.
